The Native Youth Centre Team launched our Capital Campaign on April 4, 2004. The launch was a great success; there was a lot of excitement and support from community members, the private sector and government. Approximately 200 people gathered to hear about our progress, listen to the Young Women’s Drum Group, make key announcements, and to share in a meal. City of Vancouver Mayor Larry Campbell was on hand to announce the City’s commitment of $2 million to purchase the second site needed to complete the footprint of the Native Youth Centre, CIBC was there to announce their $200,000 donation, and many observers contributed during a traditional blanket dance.
